Ecovolunteer nature travel : help in research on belugas in Russia. Every year groups of these white polar dolphins assemble near the Solovetsky archipelago to socialize. They always do this in July and August, the period of the white nights when it stays light for 20 hours a day. For the beluga’s it is the time of birth of their young and for mating. We use a specially made observation post for our research, which will provide a better insight into the behavior and communication of beluga's. Since 1994 the project is run by the Marine Bioacoustic Laboratory of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, which belongs to the Russian Academy for Sciences. It is supervised by Professor Vsevolod M. Bel’kovich, a real whale-specialist. cetacea, delphinidae, monodontidae, delphinapterus leucas, cetacean, belugas, belukha, sea canary, white whales, white dolphins, russia, white sea, beloye more, solovetskiye ostrova, solovetski islands, arkhangel'sk, laboratory for marine bio-acoustic, shirshov oceanologic institute, whale watching, dolphin watching, whale tourism, dolphin tourism, nature travel, ecotourism
