Ecovolunteer nature travel: help in minke whale research in Canada.
In this project you will meet whales in their natural environment and you will you will learn all you wish to know and more about these magnificent creatures. During the two-weeks courses, which we offer since 1990, you will not only have many encounters with different animals, and see different behaviours on different days, you also will learn what the whales are doing and why, and you will help with the research. We have been studying whales since 1978, applying non-intrusive research methods to observe minke, humpback, finback, and blue whales in Eastern Canada. In recent years, photo-identification and studies of feeding strategies and techniques, habitat use and distribution of minke whales have become our main focus. We are the Foundation for Marine Environment Research ORES is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to work towards a better understanding of the lives of whales through research, education, and conservation. Our studies, courses and publications help to raise public awareness of the incredible minke whales which in turn is the base for whale conservation world-wide. Because only what we have learned to know and to respect, we will speak up for.
