Red-breasted toucans in Brazil - Ramphastos dicolorus.
The beautiful coloured toucans are one of the most peculiar and popular group of bird species characteristic of South America and its tropics. This Toucan Project focuses on the Red-breasted toucan, a species living in southeastern Brazil. We offer you the opportunity to participate in research work with these Red-breasted toucans. Little information about this toucan is available which is one of the reasons for the decrease in population. Hunting, habitat destruction and pesticides are other factors that contribute. This project is at its beginning and urges protection of this endangered bird. The main objective is to increase the knowledge of this highly endangered species and its protection.
